DCFCPUG Meeting - featuring FCP Q&A and demo of AJA KiProDMV Creative Pro User Group (DMVCPUG)Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM (EST)Washington, DC |

Greetings:
We've been hard at work prepping the new look of the website and an exciting new chapter for DCFCPUG for 2010. We have a new Platinum level sponsor (AJA) that will be supportive to our endeavors all year long as well as a long list of valued sponsor partners servicing our creative marketplace and pitching in resources to help us grow.
For the January 2010 meeting in Washington, DC, we have AJA's very own Manny Rosado from the AJA Florida office, who will show how the new KI Pro device can united the production and post workflow...
Everyone from broadcasters to indie filmmakers can probably agree on one thing: the possible choices for image acquisition are daunting. Different cameras, different formats, different recording media and different compression schemes. Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way to simplify acquisition so that virtually any camera, digital or analog, could record the same format and resolution? Enter the AJA Ki Pro.
The AJA Ki Pro is a tapeless video recording device that records high-quality Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files onto computer-friendly media. Because it features SD/HD-SDI, HDMI, and analog inputs, you can interface with virtually any type of camera you might own or rent. Enjoy monitoring flexibility through Ki Pro's numerous simultaneous outputs, connecting to both professional and consumer monitors.
Ki Pro is portable and rugged; designed for real production environments. With the optional exo-skeleton it can sit below your camera-out of the way of your battery adapters, wireless mics and other accessories. Integration with your other production gear is seamless.
Ki Pro is intuitive to operate. Alongside the camera, the familiar VTR-like buttons provide immediate controls for basic operation. From a distance, use a web browser via ethernet or WiFi to control operations from a laptop or iPhone.

For up to date, general meeting information, go to the DCFCPUG main site and click MEETINGS and check this event link for the latest updates/details to our January 26th meeting in DC!
Here is a bio on our guest speaker/presenter for the evening:
Manny Rosado, Field Service Engineer for AJA Video will present the revolutionary Ki Pro. AJA Ki Pro is a tapeless video recording device that produces Apple ProRes 422 QuickTime files which are ready for immediate use within Final Cut Studio. Simply connect the media to a host computer and begin editing. Unify SD, 720 and 1080 cameras and formats with one superior 10-bit full-raster codec-Apple ProRes 422. Because it features SD/HD-SDI, HDMI, and analog inputs, you can interface with virtually any type of camera you might own or rent. Ki Pro features cross-conversion so you can have a 720p camera produce a 1080i recording to match your other camera... or vice versa. And if you've got high-quality SD cameras, Ki Pro can even help you extend their use since it also up-converts SD camera signals to HD recordings. No more digitizing, No more worrying about which camera to use, High-quality ready-to-edit video.
At one of the DCFCPUG meetings in 2010, someone will be the lucky winner of a KiPro. DCFCPUG Membership is FREE to join, and the prize raffle will be for registered members only! You must attend in person to be eligible to win! Who will be our big winner for 2010, will it be YOU?
We have been working over the past summer establishing a viable process and program to engage our online readership while providing an environment that we can learn, share and explore Apple Pro applications.
While Apple Pro apps are a focus for the group, we do engage with the best of breed industry apps, tricks of the trade and services to improve our workflow in this creative and competitive marketplace.
Invite your friends, associates, colleagues and anyone who is interested in keeping this activity vibrant, and productive. We want you to take a more active role in 2010!
We are doing our part to provide a DC based FCP group but I do ask that you set aside one day each month to attend our meetings and share your knowledge with us at our meetings and online. Go to the main site and view upcoming DCFCPUG meetings and look out for the registration posts online or in your email (for registered users)... Once a registered member, don't forget to LOGIN and make sure your profile is current with a valid email address, etc. Some content on the site is visible only to registered users, so don't miss out!
We have a growing sponsorship program that supports our DCFCP Winner's Circle raffle each month. We raffled off thousands of dollars worth of prizes last year. You can be a winner too, just attend and take a chance at winning & participating in the fun, food and friendship! To keep money handling to a minimum, all registrations and raffles tickets are conducted ONLINE ONLY. ;-)
Check out our sponsors on the main site and give them as try as they are reaching out to our community to provide great tools to complement and enhance our production value to our customers. They support us, so the least we can do is support them by attending the meetings and contributing to our community knowledge.
Come on out and support YOUR PUG. We'll see you there! REGISTER EARLY as seating is LIMITED and will go FAST!
